This course focuses on one to one learning with the advantage of having full attention and focus of your instructor on you. Have a native English speaker instructor from the U.K. , the U.S.A., or Canada assist you in developing your language skills via telephone or a video call with a platform equivalent to what you can find in an on site classroom such as a whiteboard and a spectrum of materials.
This course aims at the development of your ability to talk about and have discussions about various subjects related to business, lifestyle, news, current events, acedemic topics, environment, logistics, management, jobs, technology, culture and much more.
In addition, you will be trained to use lexical phrases for functions such as speaking in meetings, making negotiations, participating in a conference, or speaking on the telephone.
You will have the opportunity to hone your English skills in terms of READING, LISTENING, SPEAKING, and WRITING.
It is crucial to set up a curriculum which caters to your needs and goals which is why it is important for us to know what your aims and goals for your English development are. We also want to know what topics you are interested in reading and speaking about so that we can assign you with speaking and homework topics which interest you. Upon a level test completion your level will be determined and a course suitable for your level, needs, interests, and goals will be followed.
Lessons are flexible and you are able to determine how you would like to proceed whether it be by talking about an article or video, preparing for an up-coming meeting/ presentation, working on vocabulary, or even talking about a topic of your choice.
You will have the opportunity to read authentic articles fit to your level and interest which will enable you to develop your vocabulary knowledge. You will later have the chance to have a discussion about the article topic with your instructor in an up-coming lesson.
Listening practice is facilitated through authentic videos fit to your level and interests which will give you the opportunity to build up your vocabulary knowledge. You will have the chance to talk about the video topic in an up-coming lesson with your instructor.
In lessons, you will do speaking practice based on a topic of an article or video given to your for homework prior to the lesson. You may also request to talk about a topic of your choice. Your instructor will monitor your grammar accuracy or accuracy of use of target vocabulary and provide you with feedback immediately or at the end of the lesson depending on your preference. You may also do speaking practice with specific grammatical structures or points which you are weak at. In spoken grammar practice your instructor will lead you by asking you discussion or conversation questions which will enable you to use the target grammar point. After your lesson, you will receive a lesson report with comments and feedback on your strengths and weakness regarding your performance in the lesson. Your lesson report will also have notes on specific grammar errors made along with corrections.
Writing is done as a homework assignment. After you complete your writing assignment, you will go through it with your instructor in an upcoming lesson. Your instructor will guide you paragraph by paragraph to indicate what grammar areas you need to work on and assign you with grammar related homework accordingly. Your instructor will be available to help you with a powerpoint presentation, interpretation of statistical charts, e-mails, or letters which you may need to prepare for work.
The type of homework you receive can range from an article to a video or vocabulary to grammar.
You will develop your vocabulary with the articles and videos assigned to you for homework as well as with special vocabulary exercises which come in various categories such as, engineering vocabulary,business vocabulary, accounting vocabulary, logistics vocabularyand much more.
The grammar points which you need to work on are determined during your lessons. As you speak during discussions your instructor will take notes on grammatical areas which you need to work on. You can work on grammar in the form of a homework exercise if assigned by your instructor. You can also work on grammar during a lesson and do speaking practice on a specific grammatical structure with the aid of a whiteboard which your instructor will use to point out grammatical forms.
PROGRESS REPORTS AND LEVEL ASSESSMENT
In order to keep track of your progress you will be assessed at the beginning, the middle, and the end of your course. Language levels range from 1 to 6 and increase depending on student effort, lesson participation, and homework completion.
